Front Crash Prevention Earns Added Mark

Remember in school how much better it felt to get that “+” after your letter grade? That’s how Hyundai designers are feeling today after earning a Top Safety Pick + grade from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) on the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. By adding optional front crash prevention, the Santa Fe earned top marks from the IIHS and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). “We are thrilled that Santa Fe Sport has achieved the gold standard for CUV safety from IIHS and NHTSA,” said Hyundai VP Mike O’Brien. “These awards underline our commitment to developing advanced technologies that assist in avoiding crashes all together. A class-leading body structure protects occupants if a collision does occur.” The 2017 Santa Fe Sport will be available later this year at Chapman Hyundai Scottsdale.

Santa Fe Sport Loaded With Safety Features

You can put your mind at ease when transporting your precious cargo with the 2017 Santa Fe Sport. Standard safety equipment on all trim levels includes vehicle stability management, traction control, electronic stability control and seven airbags. Four-wheel disc brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist is also standard. Hill-start assist control and downhill brake control help you navigate those steep hills. Tire pressure monitoring keeps you up to date if you start to lose inflation.

Rating Improves for Front Overlap

The 2017 Sport got the highest rating possible from the IIHS for the small overlap front test, going from “marginal” to “good.” Due to an improved structure, the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is better at keeping outside elements out of the cockpit during a crash, while new airbag placement better protects the driver. All other IIHS tests earned the top rating of “good.” The front crash prevention system is included in the optional tech package under the name “automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.” This package also includes an electronic parking brake, headlights that follow the curve of the road, adaptive cruise control and lane assist. Test drive the new Santa Fe Sport later this year when it becomes available at Chapman Hyundai Scottsdale.

‘Car Book’ Evaluates Vehicles for Safety and Performance

The “Car Book” is a consumer publication that many car buyers have come to rely on for advice when shopping for a new vehicle. For the past 36 years, the “Car Book” has designated vehicles as a “Best Bet,” meaning they provide the quality, safety and performance the customers are looking for. This year, both the Hyundai Genesis and Sonata were chosen to the list. “Hyundai continues to exceed customer expectations in terms of build quality and standard features,” according to “Car Book” author Jack Gillis. “By offering vehicles that respond to the safety and performance needs of today’s consumers, Hyundai continues to make a significant contribution to improving the market choices for the American car buyer.” See why the Genesis and Sonata are on the Best Bet list by taking a trip to Chapman Hyundai Scottsdale.

Evaluation Spans Nine Categories

When the “Car Book” starts picking and choosing what vehicles will be on the Best Bet list, it has a comprehensive list of nine categories for judging. Safety features, crash tests, preventative maintenance, repair costs, rollover, warranty, fuel economy, customer complaints and insurance are all under consideration, with the most emphasis put on safety. Both the 2016 Hyundai Sonata and Genesis are loaded with advanced technology that automates many of the safety features. Electronic stability control helps you stay in charge of your vehicle during icy or other dangerous conditions. Lane departure warning alerts you to drift on those long, lonely trips, while electronic brake distribution makes sure all four wheels have plenty of grab when you’re trying to stop. Forward collision warning alerts you to the possibility of a crash in front, then takes control if you fail to act. Seven airbags are strategically placed to ensure you and your occupants are protected in the event of a collision.

“The Best Bet recognition from the Car Book demonstrates our emphasis on safety and performance with bold styling and advanced technologies across our sedan lineup,” Hyundai VP Mike O’Brien said. “With the crowded sedan segment today, we strive to deliver cars that are better in every aspect, to win over the needs of car buyers from better safety to better performance.”

Best Warranty Offers Peace of Mind
