Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Buying a new car can be stressful and negotiating with cars salesman can be intimidating, but knowing your stuff can make your car buying experience much smoother. Here are a few tips to keep in mind before heading to the Scottsdale Hyundai dealership:

1.    Research

The first and most important step when beginning your car-buying process is doing your research. Websites like and are great resources to tell you everything you need to know about your future car. These websites give you access to expert and consumer ratings and reviews, pictures and comparisons with other cars in the same class. Perhaps the most valuable information these websites provide is the Fair Purchase Price or True Market Value®. These prices tell you what other people are paying, right now, for the car you are looking at. It is a good idea to know this price, along with the MSRP and Invoice, before heading to the dealership. It will give you more negotiating power and hopefully help you get the best deal possible.

2.    Test-Drive

A car may look great on paper, but a test-drive is necessary to determine if it is the perfect car for you. During your test-drive, make sure to eliminate any distractions, such as the radio, so that you can focus on how the car drives and feels. Take the car on your local roads, over speed bumps, around corners and on the freeway. This will give you a sense of how the car drives under different conditions that you will encounter on a daily basis Also make sure to check the breaks, air-conditioning, cruise control, radio and any other features to makes sure they are to your liking. If something doesn’t feel right, check it out. Remember, this will probably be your ride for years to come, and you want to avoid future trips to the Hyundai Service center.

3.    Consider other cars in the same class

It is a good idea to drive other cars in the same class as your dream car so you can make comparisons. You may be surprised that a car you weren’t looking at before fits your needs better than the one you have in mind. If you are considering a Nissan Altima, for example, you could check out a Hyundai Sonata to determine which car is best for you. This could also help you rule out an entire class altogether. If you don’t like any of the midsize sedans you test-drive, that could be an indicator that you should check out a different class of cars instead.

4.    Take your time

Buying a new vehicle is a huge decision that should not be taken lightly. The car buying process can be stressful, but rushing to make a decision could cause you to make the wrong choice. Once you have taken time to do research, test-drive and consider multiple cars, you will be ready to start the negotiating process. Remember, sometimes to get the price you want you have to walk away. If a salesman won’t budge on a price, sleep on it and make sure you are truly willing to pay what they are asking before you rush into buying the car.

Keeping these tips in mind will lead to a smooth and successful car buying experience when you visit Chapman Hyundai Scottsdale.
